Our weekend

Aunt Sarah, from Georgia, came to our house to help us celebrate Sarah Brooke's 6th birthday. She arrived in town just in time to go to the Indy 500 parade downtown on Saturday. 2 days is not enough catch up time but better than nothing :) Thanks for coming, Sarah.
This is a birdie update. 2 of the babies did not make it and ended up being flipped over onto the neighbors lawn. (They don't play in their backyard.) We think they fell out of the nest or were pushed out. The other 2 filled up the nest and now they are able to fly somewhat. On Saturday we discovered a nest of baby rabbits. We don't have pets to scare these animals away but I thought the kids playing out there would have let them know that it isn't the sanctuary they thought it was.
Sarah Brooke with her ice cream cone cake. It tasted wonderful and was gone too soon. She looks taller and older to me already. She grew at least 2 1/2 in. from last year. Such a sweety!

Sarah Brooke turns 6

The theme for her birthday celebration is ice cream cones. This is my attempt at making an ice cream cone out of cake. It may not look that great but it is chocolate cake so it is bound to taste good :)
She opened her gifts first thing so we could enjoy the rest of our day. The bike was the finale.
Chuck E. Cheeses was where we ate lunch.
We went to the Indy 500 parade too.

The first and last day of First grade

We did not know Mrs. Smith at the beginning of this year and was thinking that nobody could be as good as his Kindergarten teacher. She sure implanted herself in our heart. She is a class act. It has been a good year for Cameron. Today was the awards program. He recieved several certificates but I think his favorite was the medal for being on the Administraion Honor roll and he was chosen as the best first grade boy in P.E. They graded it not so much on athleticism but cooperation and enthusiasim. He was given a kickball. This family now has a second grader and a kindergartner. Miss Ashley will do fine without them. She took a nap yesterday afternoon and was not sleepy at bed time so she got to stay up with Mommy and Daddy. She played quietly and then we went to bed and read and cuddled. It is fun to treat each kid now and then.

Just having fun in the back yard while Cameron was at school

Miss Ashley was a good sport for me. I took these the other day.
Sarah Brooke turns 6 on Saturday
More fun
I'm raising picnic lovers. This was after the photo shoot. The day was so pretty out and they wanted to use the fancy glasses (plastic) from my picnic basket. They had chicken salad, cheese sticks and oatmeal cream pies for the sweet. You have to look for it but Miss Ashley has her baby out there with her in its high chair.

Field Day at CCS

One of the events Cameron participated in was the balloon bust contest. His balloon was too small and very difficult to bust. He won first place on the bean bag balance contest
This was where they had to pass the ball between their legs. He loved the afternoon. He was on the gold team which was lucky for us since he had a plain yellow t-shirt :)

Monday a.k.a weekend recovery day

What a delightful morning I have had. Sis. Sams came over and briefed me on the responsibility of being a missionary society president. Nothing like Monday morning company to get the house back in shape from the weekend. She stayed for lunch. I made chicken salad sandwiches and hot ham and cheese on sliced Italian bread. I got all fancy and layered a couple table clothes on the table. Put a stack of books and a variety of candles as the centerpiece and a pitcher of pink lemonade. Dessert was ice cream sandwiches. Everything was a little on the simple side but fun.

Saturday we worked in the yard and trimmed up the bushes. We have had beautiful weather for over a month now. Our Pastor's daughter graduates this year so her graduation celebration was Saturday evening. Our former Associate and his family came to help us celebrate so it was fun to be able to catch up.

Bro. Sams spoke Sunday morning. We had our traditional Sunday afternoon nap :) Went to Charles and Kristens after church Sunday night for pancakes. They weren't just ordinary ones either. Cinamon, applesauce or chocolate chip. It was a fun way to end our weekend.

This is a busy week for us. Lots of last week events for Cameron. Tomorrow is field day. I will try to get some fun pics to post.
