We grow our children large

This is the week for well visits at the doctor. Cameron is at 97% on his height and weight. Sarah Brooke was at 91% on her weight and 77% on her height. Miss Ashley is 96.1% in her weight and 82.1% on her height. Very healthy kids and we are thankful. They each have been treated for one ear infection each in their life so far but other than that we have just prayed over them and they get better. Because of their good health we haven't taken them for well visits in a long time. Cameron is feeling a little traumitized by having to wear the blue, paper robe :) oh me

I'm back

In our camp room with cousin Anna
Cameron discovered the love of baseball. That's him hanging like a monkey.
This was his first time to ever play baseball.
Have you wondered where I've been? Life got too busy to let you know that we were off to Church camp. I have tons to catch you up on :) We left for camp Father's Day evening. It is a 2 hr. and 15 min. ride to camp and roughly 30 "are we there yets?". The room we got this year is a cadillac in camp rooms. It was bitter sweet though because it is the room that our dear friends, the MarkPotter family, usually stays in. They weren't able to come this year. The room had a full size bed, 2 twins pushed together and a full size sofa, table w/4 chairs, air conditioner, refrigerator, ceiling fan, dresser w/ mirror and last but not least a clothes rack.

David drove us over and then had to leave Mon. morning for work. We roamed the camp ground doing volunteer stuff and greeting people. David's parents arrived Mon. evening. That night we did the whole shower routine for the first time. Cameron had to go on his own and he was very nervous about this, getting the water adjusted, where to hang your towel so it doesn't touch the floor, making sure to not forget certain areas to clean. He did a fine job and felt so big after he was done. Our house has the one knob wonder for the water so it is a big deal to regulate the cold and hot even for me and when you think you have it then someone either starts the shower next to you or everybody decides to flush the toilets at once. After the first shower experience you come away thinking " I think I'm clean". You never forget your shower shoes!!!

Tuesday--the first day for children's services. The theme was Pioneers. By the end of the week they had over 100 kids (some parents) in the chapel. The closing song each time was Happy trails to you. I loved that one. I attended the kids stuff on Tues. because it was still just conference stuff in the tabernacle.

Food line--this is a challenge. I hold our place in line while the kids wonder around and check in. Then we miraculously get to the trays and make our way down the food choices. We weave around and find a seat and start distributing the food and utensils. Clean hands before you eat is impossible so before long you don't even remember to be upset about it. The food was really good this year.

The morning routine was for me to get up and get dressed before the kids woke up then I dressed them and sent them over to say "good morning" to their grandparents. I stayed in the room and titied up, ate a little breakfast and had quiet time. Then I checked to make sure they made it to church and went to the tabernacle for the morning service. Our room was the opposite corner on campus of the children's chapel. This year I got to be in on most of the adult services. Mark Cravens and Dad were the camp evangelist and the Waggoners were the singers.

After the afternoon services it was nap time :) I can't keep going without it. After nap is supper then a mad dash back to the room (because you talked to long over supper) to get ready for the pre-service (singing). The room always looked like a tornado hit as we closed the door. Nobody thought to stop by and see our room when it was all picked up. No, only after we had left in that whirlwind.

The snack shop was always open after church and we usually bought. I know I must have gained this week even with all the walking I did. One night we ended up in David's Mom and Dad's fifth wheel trailer ( the camp provided it) Before it was over we had 19 family members in there. Hopefully Leanna will post that pic. It was so much fun being with family and friends all week long. I got progressively more tired though because of the hours I kept. Never asleep before midnight.

Camp is the most amazing experience-- The singing literally fills your ears and you can hardly hear yourself sing. You look around and the place is full of people worshiping. Bible Methodist people aren't run the aisle type worshipers but you could feel and sense God's presence. The preaching is annointed, uplifting and challenging. Getting to chat with other mother's while we are watching our kids play is delightlful. I don't have to plan the meals. I didn't do laundry all week long. What's not to like about camp (oh yeah the showers).
Can't wait till next year!!!

Getting ready for a work day at the church

It was a hot afternoon. I put Sarah Brooke's hair in french braids so it would be up off of her neck. Miss Ashley wanted her hair just like it. I had about 5 minutes before we were ready to go so the parts aren't straight.

It was a scorcher of a day. David worked on the dirt and I trimmed the bushes. We got there earlier than the rest of the group. We were excited to start working on the sign.
The guys got the electric part hooked up and the sign came on before we left. We now need spot lights to light up the name at night but the message board is nice and bright. I think it needs flowers of some kind too. Everybody worked really hard.

Our new church sign!

We have been without a church sign for a long time. Now we have a new one with our "new name". Tomorrow they are bringing in the dirt to fill in under the sign and David is to meet the sign man to get the letters for the lighted area. We are so excited about this. Now we just need a Pastor :)

Our visit to the zoo

We met some classmates from school at the zoo today. They came running at Cameron like he was the long lost friend. Cameron wished his weekend away in anticipation of the new area where you pet the sharks and getting wet at the water park area. This was the gang of classmates and siblings. Cameron was one of the bigger boys in his class and these 2 friends were the smallest.
This is so ugly but I thought funny. Someone said we know God has a sense of humor because he created Walruses.
The Enchanted Mill water park area at the zoo. Sarah Brooke is waiting on the water to squirt up
Miss Ashley wasn't that into the water but was happy to find this sea horse.
It was a good day. We will be back :)

Doesn't this look refreshing?

It is the time of year to get the sprinkler out to cool off. Thanks to a friend of mine they have this awesome beach ball that hooks up to a hose and water squirts out different directions. The kids have been begging to get it out and try it.

Memories lane....Once upon a time

Miss Ashley turned 2 and had beautiful, blonde hair that was growing slowly but surely

We were even able to curl it for church

Then she discovered her big sisters scrapbook scissors

We just thought they were put away

Then to our horror she found the scissors yet again

And now we are left with this adorable, michievous, little girl that has made it to 3 yrs. old :)

15 minutes--Is it long or short?

I think it is great fun to think about the difference 15 minutes can make.
15 min. of fame is short--15 min. of waiting on test results is forever.
15 min. at the grocery is short-- but sitting in traffic--long.
15 min. sermon--short but 15 min. devotions is long (for some)
15 min. shower--long but 15 min. of quiet is short.
15 min. catching up on blogs is short but 15 min. waiting to get on the computer is loong :)
Let me know of some of your 15 minute ideas.

To all my blogger friends...

Yesterday was my 1 month anniversary for my blog. This has been such a fun thing for me. I spent the morning running a yard sale and the afternoon at the park with the kids and didn't have time to blog. Imagine that! The kids had a ball and they went through almost 4 bottles of water. A litte bit of the water was poured on their heads to cool them down. I had the yard sale again this morning and now all the left overs are packed and ready to go to the Goodwill. So glad that chore is over until next year. We have a nice wide garage again. It is amazing how it narrows over the winter. The kids sold bottled water and lemonade. Wouldn't it have been cute to see a picture of them? Well I just now thought of it. Some things in life I guess I will just live and capture what I can
