We are counting down

I loved this random drawing I saw laying on the desk. Cameron loves to doodle while he listens to Odyssey.

Dear mailman...

This is a letter that Ashley has written to the mailman. She put it in the mailbox before heading off to school and has no idea that I have gone and gotten it. My name has been placed on a new Mommy list somehow and the other day we received a box of formula. We have passed along the samples but I guess she felt the need to let the mailman know.
The translation:
Dear Mailman I am writing a letter for you because the letter about the babys is a mistake so I would cross it out because we aren't having a baby

Then we arrived at Easley, S.C. to be with David's parents.

The weather was beautiful and we were treated to a cookout. Food tastes so much better when cooked and eaten outside.
We went to Bob Jones University to see the living galary. Real people depict ancient art work and sculpting, making it look 3D. They stood or posed so still that it was hard to tell the difference from real life or art. They had drama in between paintings and sculptures. Very beautifully done, very hard to explain but a must see for sure if you are ever down in Greenville around Easter.
Before the living galary event we had a little time to walk through the art museum there on campus. Ancient paintings from the 1600's. Amazing stuff. It is a special night for the students. We saw many couples dressed up and the ladies carrying bouquets of flowers.
Thanks Mom and Dad Going for giving our family a chance to experience the Living Galary and Museum.

Vacation pics continued...

These purple pine blossoms were so pretty along the trail just across the road from Mother and Daddy's place
Looks like fireworks

Stopped along the trail for a photo op. The pic below is completely untouched by any photo shop program. I really am looking that old. ha

While Mother was at work I set the table for supper. I had so much fun. I decided to use her china plates that belonged to Grandma Evans then I sorted through her kitchen linens in the buffet and chose the yellow placemats and napkins. The tulips were from her bathroom vanity. The pillar candle from the guest room, fresh strawberries and the delightful pedestal bowls that I loved tucked away in a cabinet. She had never put this combination together before. It was very cheery and dressy in the midst of country living. My practical Daddy thought it was sure going to be difficult to drink out of the glasses with napkins in them :-) I fixed baked pork chops, baked potatoes, broccoli w/cheese. Why is it more fun to cook in somebody elses kitchen?

And the relaxation continued.

It's tradition, it's caos and we have the pictures to show you--Spring Break Part 2

Everybody was into decorating eggs this year. Mother had bought 3 different kinds of decorating kits so some were sparkly, some camouflage and the others were tie dye.
Sarah Brooke making hers sparkly

This is Daddy making sure the process was being followed correctly in the midst of everybody being in a hurry to see how they turn out :-)

David, I think they are all the same shape. Just pick one.

Cameron made a patient egg ready for brain surgery

Good times!

Spring Break 2010 Part 1

We headed out for Aiken, SC which would be the first stop on our spring break trip. The weather cooled down at night and then by day it felt great to have the sunshine on your back. My sister has moved her horse onto Mother and Daddy's property so that was a big attraction while we were there. I tried riding the horse but it was more scary than fun because it felt like it would be a long way down if I were to fall. I didn't look as thin as I would have liked either. ha (not sure when that will ever happen) They have created a mini silver dollar city for themselves.

I'll be showing you more pictures of our time there and the rest of our vacation so be sure to check back soon.
