I love to read...
Last year I kept track of how many books I was able to read. It has been fun to look back and see what caught my attention. I ended up reading 25 total, 11 fiction, 10 biography, 4 missionary/prayer books. By keeping track I was able to stay a little more well rounded and not go all fiction. I love biographies though too. Favorite author right now would have to be Karen Kingsbury. They are fiction but laced with biblical principles, they draw you in. I have read Gilbert Morris's "Winslow series" since it first came out (I was 15 or so) and now he is up to 40 some I think in that same series. I came across a biography "To full term" by Darci Klein in the new book section at the Library. If you know of anyone that has had a miscarriage this is a fascinating read. Fighting for Dear Life was enlightening to the real facts of what went on. I remember the days when my babies were new and reading a magazine article was a real accompliment and now I have read 25 in one year. I have installed a fun bookshelf in the sidebar. Let me know if there is a "must read" out there. I'm off to read some more :)

I love the addition to your blog - your bookshelf. I like to read also - never thought about keeping track of the books over a period of a year - Good idea....bette
Martha, That's neat. Karla has a shelfari bookshelf too. Karla does something to get free books too, that you might want to try. But you'd have to ask her what it is. I decided that I was going to keep track of all the books I read this year. It seems like I always end up reading self help books (wonder if it's helping?) and of course a dear passion of mine...decorating magazines. It's neat that you kept track last year. Wow! 25 what an accomplishment, I'm impressed!
I'm on Shelfari, too. It's a great way to keep track of your books. I'm way behind on posting mine. (I've been keeping up with adding all the new books I receive for reviews, but have tons more filling my shelves that I need to add.) I'll add you as a friend there!
Thanks for commenting on my blog! It's fun!
I enjoy keeping track of the books I read, also. I have only done this the last few years. This past year, I read 35 which included my two devotional books that I read in 2007. I enjoyed reading so much as a young girl, then through the years of raising our sons, it seemed that hobby went by the wayside, but now that I'm an empty-nester, I thoroughly enjoy reading again.
Enjoy your blog.
Mom Going
I knew you kept track Mom Going and was curious how many you logged :)
You go girl! The Shelfari is too neat! I love to read, but don't get to as often as I would like. Maybe this year will be different! :)
Last year, I read 45.
Mom Going
Why has it started putting tdgoing up? Just curious.
Martha, I recently discovered Karen Kingsbury and have been devouring her books! I love them!!! What a writer!
That's 25 more than I read in 2007. Unless you count Philemon, then you only beat me by 24!
My "must read?" The Holy Bible.
Hey marty i think i will try to keep track this year. I am afraid mine will be a lot of westerns i discovered the large print shelf so thats about the only shelf igo to any more.I could recomend a few but i dont believe those are your style. O well we can`t all be make believe cowboys....how about some clansey or grissom?? well until next time so long and keep the saddle on the top!! DAD
Daddy, you are a hoot. My book selections were pretty girly. We listened to "The Summons" J. Grissom on the way home from S.C. Go ahead and give me a try on some of your western recommendations. I love that you are going to keep track of your books. My guess is in the 60+ range :)
Love the Shelfari idea! It is really cool! I have read so many books this year...never thought about keeping count! I enjoy some of the authors that you mentioned also. (I like "Grissom", too!) I have enjoyed reading since I was a little girl...would go to the library and get a stack of books, read them in a couple of days and have to go back! My kids really enjoy books also! Reading opens up a whole new world to the them! Hope that you are having a great day!
Sorry Ronda I led you astray in spelling Grisham. You should keep track of your books this year too. You are a speed reader so you had better get a college ruled notebook :)
That's hilarious...I looked at "Grissom" and thought..."that doesn't look right" but didn't have time to research the correct spelling! Oh well! I DO enjoy his books! See ya soon!
well now, from a true "reader" ha ha I got a book from Connie for my birthday that is three books in one by Karen Kingsburry and I should be able to git-r-done by the end of this year :) :) MOM
Does Dr. Seuss books count? I should be up to about 6+. When you throw in Berenstein Bears books, I might be up to 15+. Magic School Bus would get me over 20! I better go read some more to keep up with this distinguished group of readers!
