Sarah Brooke turned 7

| Sarah Brooke's 7th birthday 2008 |
It is a real blessing to have Sarah Brooke. She is a giver at heart, independent, creative and lovable. We celebrated her turning 7 with a Barbie birthday party. Brian and his family were with us over the weekend so it made it extra special to have family in town to celebrate with. She has been wanting a stroller that was tall enough for her to use. Thankfully they make junior size ones and she couldn't be more happy.

It was a lovely Mother's Day!
I've been showered with lots of Happy Mother's Day greetings and homemade cards from my little ones. They enjoy celebrating all day long. I'm rather spoiled all through out the year because David cooks our Sunday meal for us. I'm there by his side :-) but he does the seasoning and it is always so much better than my bland cooking throughout the week. I may be saving our lives with mine though. The man loves his salt!

Cameron was commissioned for a drawing...
My friend Kristen's son has airplanes for his bedroom theme. She got the idea of having Cameron draw a picture for her to frame. She e-mailed pics of various views of the airplane hanging from Jordan's ceiling. Cameron started with the front view of the plane but wasn't happy with it and ended up drawing the side view. We decided to give her the choice of which one she wanted. She actually paid him. Now that is a friend!! He was a little nervous not knowing if she would like it or if it was what she had in mind.
I decided that I could also use a drawing of my own to frame for the kids bathroom.
I love that he can draw and I'm proud of him but I also realize the responsibility to guide him in the way he should go. I want him to know where his talent ultimately comes from and to be open for how God plans to use it.

This is what I have been up to...
It was time to paint the kitchen. I thought using a new delicious color would be fun but the agreeable color turned out to be 2 shades lighter than our living room. The pictures don't reflect much color at all but it really is more than white. Things were cleaned, changed and rearranged. I do love it and it has made keeping the kitchen cleaned up a real delight. I haven't found just the right curtain for the window yet but take a look at how it all looks for now :-)
The bonus of painting my little kitchen was left over paint. There was enough to do the kids bathroom too. Yea!

Take a look with me...
This is my parents back yard in Kansas. This looks so inviting and serene don't you think? Can you feel the breeze?
I love this view over the newly painted picket fence into the back yard. You may need to click on the picture to enlarge and see the details on the back fence. Very nostalgic feeling or am I just homesick. Check out the bird feeder and bath, an ol' wash tub, wagon wheel.

Just the right gift...
I was wishing aloud one day that my newly acquired aprons were more easily assessable. My sister-in-law Rachel said she had the perfect thing for me and I think she was right!
My Grandma wore aprons regularly. She passed away a couple years ago and Grandpa moved to Kansas to live with my parents. They sold his home and brought me some goodies that I requested which were her aprons. Now thanks to Rachel I have just the place to hang them. I wanted to get the kitchen painted first though. I'll be posting that project next week. I've been busy around here :-)
