Cameron discovered the love of baseball. That's him hanging like a monkey.
This was his first time to ever play baseball.
Have you wondered where I've been? Life got too busy to let you know that we were off to Church camp. I have tons to catch you up on :) We left for camp Father's Day evening. It is a 2 hr. and 15 min. ride to camp and roughly 30 "are we there yets?". The room we got this year is a cadillac in camp rooms. It was bitter sweet though because it is the room that our dear friends, the MarkPotter family, usually stays in. They weren't able to come this year. The room had a full size bed, 2 twins pushed together and a full size sofa, table w/4 chairs, air conditioner, refrigerator, ceiling fan, dresser w/ mirror and last but not least a clothes rack.
David drove us over and then had to leave Mon. morning for work. We roamed the camp ground doing volunteer stuff and greeting people. David's parents arrived Mon. evening. That night we did the whole shower routine for the first time. Cameron had to go on his own and he was very nervous about this, getting the water adjusted, where to hang your towel so it doesn't touch the floor, making sure to not forget certain areas to clean. He did a fine job and felt so big after he was done. Our house has the one knob wonder for the water so it is a big deal to regulate the cold and hot even for me and when you think you have it then someone either starts the shower next to you or everybody decides to flush the toilets at once. After the first shower experience you come away thinking " I think I'm clean". You never forget your shower shoes!!!
Tuesday--the first day for children's services. The theme was Pioneers. By the end of the week they had over 100 kids (some parents) in the chapel. The closing song each time was Happy trails to you. I loved that one. I attended the kids stuff on Tues. because it was still just conference stuff in the tabernacle.
Food line--this is a challenge. I hold our place in line while the kids wonder around and check in. Then we miraculously get to the trays and make our way down the food choices. We weave around and find a seat and start distributing the food and utensils. Clean hands before you eat is impossible so before long you don't even remember to be upset about it. The food was really good this year.
The morning routine was for me to get up and get dressed before the kids woke up then I dressed them and sent them over to say "good morning" to their grandparents. I stayed in the room and titied up, ate a little breakfast and had quiet time. Then I checked to make sure they made it to church and went to the tabernacle for the morning service. Our room was the opposite corner on campus of the children's chapel. This year I got to be in on most of the adult services. Mark Cravens and Dad were the camp evangelist and the Waggoners were the singers.
After the afternoon services it was nap time :) I can't keep going without it. After nap is supper then a mad dash back to the room (because you talked to long over supper) to get ready for the pre-service (singing). The room always looked like a tornado hit as we closed the door. Nobody thought to stop by and see our room when it was all picked up. No, only after we had left in that whirlwind.
The snack shop was always open after church and we usually bought. I know I must have gained this week even with all the walking I did. One night we ended up in David's Mom and Dad's fifth wheel trailer ( the camp provided it) Before it was over we had 19 family members in there. Hopefully Leanna will post that pic. It was so much fun being with family and friends all week long. I got progressively more tired though because of the hours I kept. Never asleep before midnight.
Camp is the most amazing experience-- The singing literally fills your ears and you can hardly hear yourself sing. You look around and the place is full of people worshiping. Bible Methodist people aren't run the aisle type worshipers but you could feel and sense God's presence. The preaching is annointed, uplifting and challenging. Getting to chat with other mother's while we are watching our kids play is delightlful. I don't have to plan the meals. I didn't do laundry all week long. What's not to like about camp (oh yeah the showers).
Can't wait till next year!!!

I am still trying to catch up on my sleep! 8o) Sorry about the campfire. We had quite a group over there so you would have been welcome but I understand about the family obligations this week.It sounds like you all had a fun time like we did! Now back to the laundry.8o)
I enjoyed your camp update! How neat to feel like I was there. I miss camp meetings. I have attended them all of my life (Bible Meth. of Alabama) and did I mention that ...I LOVE camp?! Feeling God's presence, Christian Fellowship, taking great pics and making great memories...like the showers! =)

Martha, so glad to get your sweet comment on my blog! My Moma is excited about being in Indiana...and says that after missing having some special stores in CAN. that there is a new shopping center not far from her home in Westfield. YEA! I'm happy for her! (For I don't have ANY of those specialty stores here! HA!)
I'm sooo confused. I need you to help me figure out how you are related to Terry Goings? Are you? Is he your Father -in -law, or uncle by marriage, or how? And the ER Goings that signed my blog...is she married to Terry Going? Please help me get my poor self straightened out. =) (Remember I'm a blond! =D
Take care, Love,
Heather =)
Disclaimer--I have no idea who Rodrigo is and what he had to say so I may have to start restricting the comment area.
Heather--Terry and Ella Ruth Going are my in-laws. I'm married to their youngest son, David. They are pastoring in S.C. It is my parents that are into motorcycle riding :) I had to smile that you might would have thought it was my in-laws.
I have to laugh, Martha, because at first I, too, was thinking of Bro. and Sis. Going being into motorcycling. Then I realized my mistake. Humorous mental picture...
I loved your report of camp and the pics. You sound like me - I always thoroughly loved Camp (and Youth Camp). I will say when my boys were younger, the bath/shower situation wasn't just the most wonderful, but we have so many incredible memories of Beulah Grove, some very special memories, for sure.
Love your blog!
